The Cemetery Interpretation Project is a partnership between the City of Nacogdoches and Stephen F. Austin State University. The SFA project team spans three colleges (Arthur Temple College of Forestry & Agriculture, College of Liberal & Applied Arts, and the College of Education) and one division (Ralph W. Steen Library).
Funded by the National Park Service's Preserve America Grant Program in 2008, the project seeks to raise awareness of important cultural resources by preserving and interpreting these sites and developing tangible products that can be used by teachers, community members, researchers and heritage tourists. These products will include local workshops, maps using GIS technology, and an interactive database of research and resources, among other things.
